Just fancied giving you a little taster of the kind of things i’m doing on my uni course at the moment! I’m studying Fashion Communication at Northumbria University and so far it’s been pretty darn good. For one project were focusing on ‘water’ and creating a ‘designer water bottle collaboration’ which is strange but exciting; after long nights of hard thinking I think i’ve come to the conclusion that the designer i’m going to go for is Miu Miu as it’s one of my all time favourites and i can make it really feminine and pretty. I am definitely a little bit in love with their glittery boots this season so i might play with that idea and maybe make references to Dorothy and her Ruby Slippers.
I also love how they use Hailee Steinfeld for their A/W 2011 collection, she’s so beautiful and wears the brand so well.
Moving away from the designer collaboration, we were also asked to make a powerpoint regarding the project showing water in a different context, me and my group chose ‘Religion’ as a theme and ‘Sacred vs Sinister’ as a sub-theme. I took some images myself projecting the ‘fear’ of water and the sinister values of how it can cause death, the sense of being breathless, being submerged, unable to breathe. I wanted it to be quite simple but tell a story for example the first image appears quite serene and peaceful and by the last image it shows a deathly unnerving image. I called the series ‘Breathless’
In a more ‘Fashionable’ area I am so so inspired by this shoot in ‘LOVE’ it’s called ‘What Lies Beneath’ By photographers Mert & Marcus and it’s just purely breathtaking. I could only hope to be this amazingly good one day.
